The Sun is our interface and the source of all life on our planet. Thanks to the Sun we live in an abundance of energy, as this star could provide energy for hundreds of planets like the Earth.

Our challenge is to capture and store energy in an economical and planet-friendly friendly way. The current energy system needs to be renewed and made clean. At Nordic Nano, we’re addressing this by improving how we harvest and store solar energy, striving for the most sustainable practices. We make a significant impact by excelling in energy efficiency, conductivity, and storage.

The challenge at hands

Current solutions heavily rely on Earth’s natural resources and virgin materials. For example, photovoltaic solar panels made of silicon are energy-intensive, requiring substantial amounts of energy to produce high-quality silicon, often sourced from fossil fuels, thereby contributing to emissions.

Recycling poses a significant challenge due to the presence of hazardous materials like lead and cadmium, and high recycling costs result in panels often ending up in landfills. The extraction of raw materials, such as silicon quartz, can severely impact the environment, leading to habitat degradation, soil erosion, and water pollution. Additionally, large-scale solar farms affect the local ecosystem and biodiversity by disturbing habitats and displacing wildlife. Finally, current solar harvesters on the market suffer from efficiency loss due to material defects, resulting in decreased electricity generation over time.

Purifying the clean energy

Nordic Nano holds great potential to make a significant contribution to global efforts in transitioning to a clean energy future and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Nordic Nano’s positive impact on addressing the climate crisis begins with the sustainable sourcing of materials. Our innovations reduce greenhouse gas emissions by enhancing energy efficiency in production processes and harnessing the full spectrum of solar wavelengths as a renewable energy source. These advancements lower the overall demand of fossil fuels and facilitate the integration of solar energy into the grid, thereby enabling the whole energy system more sustainable.

Less land is required to produce the same amount of solar energy compared to current solutions, and thereby diminishing harm to the biodiversity and natural ecosystems. Moreover, the lightness of our solutions reduces CO₂ emissions at every phase of the life cycle, from cradle to gate.
